James Elliott

Biography

James is a member of our Litigation practice, specialising in commercial and insolvency litigation.

Prior to joining us, James worked at a London based practice in Lincoln’s Inn where he dealt with contentious disputes arising in the fields of both commercial and insolvency law. His 
recent experience includes:

  • Involvement in the largest trial in the history of the Cayman Islands jurisdiction. Ahmad Hamad Algosaibi & Brothers Company (AHAB) v Al-Sanea & Ors is a US$9.2 billion suit involving allegations of fraud arising from one of the largest corporate collapses of the financial crisis.
  • Acted for respondent company in Re Harbinger Class PE Holdings (Cayman) Ltd, successfully defending proceedings brought by a shareholder who sought the just and equitable winding up of the company on the basis that it had lost its substratum.
  • Assisting Joint Official Liquidators of Life Premium Fund, SPC, a Cayman closed-ended fund invested in life insurance policies with over 200 investors based in Latin America.

James is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, INSOL International and the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association (RISA).
