Expertise and Professional Background
Shelley joined Harneys as an Articled Clerk in 2013 and was admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar in 2015. She is the first person to graduate from the firm’s articled clerk programme and is now an Associate in the investment funds department advising on all aspects of the formation, maintenance, restructuring and wind-down of Cayman Islands investment funds.
Shelley is also In-House Counsel for Harneys Services (Cayman) Limited where she is responsible for ensuring compliance with local and applicable international legislation, negotiation of relevant documentation and general corporate advice.
Prior to joining Harneys Shelley gained offshore experience at Maples and Calder as an Investment Funds Paralegal and at Walkers Global as a Legal Intern in the Cayman Islands. Before her legal studies, Shelley was the Assistant Manager at an offshore company specialising in the South American region where she gained extensive experience with international clientele.
Shelley is a member of the Caymanian Bar Association, The Cayman Islands Law Society, 100 Women in Hedge Funds and is a Notary Public of the Cayman Islands.
