Expertise and Professional Background
Nadia Menezes is counsel in Harneys’ British Virgin Islands office. Nadia’s practice encompasses offshore investment funds, regulatory and corporate and finance law. Nadia has significant experience advising upon both the formation and regulation of hedge funds, real estate and private equity funds, and the provision of ongoing advice to such funds including restructuring solutions and dealing with regulatory compliance. Nadia has been particularly involved in advising on the implications of the BVI's Securities and Investment Business (SIBA) regime.
Nadia also has a broad range of experience in corporate, commercial and securities offering transactions for both private and publicly quoted companies including advising on a range of matters such as property financing, cross-border merger and acquisitions, restructuring, formation and ongoing issues in relation to limited partnerships, securities offerings and listings (eg AIM and CISX), minority interests and various other BVI general corporate law issues. In addition to her mainstream corporate and funds experience, Nadia has substantial experience in advising companies active in the telecommunications sector including advising on BVI regulatory issues.
Nadia is a member of the BVI's SIBA Advisory Committee, a statutory committee that works with the BVI Financial Services Commission in relation to SIBA, and also serves on the Council of the BVI Investment Funds Association and has sat on other BVI legislative drafting committees.
Prior to joining Harneys in 2017, Nadia was counsel at Appleby and prior to that worked at Ogier. Nadia has more than 11 years of experience in BVI law and practice.
