Expertise and Professional Background
Junko Shiokawa joined Harneys in 2014 from another international offshore law firm in Hong Kong. Junko started her career as a Japanese qualified lawyer (bengoshi) at Nagashima & Ohno (currently known as Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu) and prior to moving offshore, Junko was a director of Barclays Capital Japan Limited covering structured finance and an associate of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York and Tokyo offices.
Junko is an experienced native Japanese offshore lawyer having extensive experience in advising Japanese and other Asian clients on Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands laws in the areas of private equity funds and hedge funds. She has also acted as offshore legal counsel on a number of corporate matters including Hong Kong IPOs and financing transactions of both private and listed offshore companies.
