Expertise and Professional Background
Jacqueline is a partner in Harneys’ BVI office and leads the BVI based Corporate and Commercial team and the firm’s Trademarks legal practice.
Having joined the firm in 1998 Jacqueline has over 18 years’ experience in mergers, acquisitions, corporate restructuring and reorganisation transactions, the formation of joint ventures, special purpose vehicles and partnerships and private and public offerings.
As the co-author of BVI chapters of The Inward Investment and International Taxation Review and The Mergers & Acquisitions Review (7th and 8th eds) Jacqueline is an expert on BVI and Anguilla corporate governance and acts as local counsel to many of the BVI’s listed entities ranging from those involved in the mining and energy sectors to those involved in the fashion industry.
Jacqueline advised on the first Plan of Arrangement under the BVI Business Companies Act and frequently guides clients in connection with complex BVI and Anguilla transactions. Her recent experience includes advising Brandeaux Asset Management in a £1.1 billion transaction involving the sale of more than 40 BVI entities and acting as BVI and Anguilla adviser in connection with the acquisition by a Hong Kong listed insurance company of a 50 per cent stake in an Anguilla registered regional insurance group, with subsidiaries in more than 15 Caribbean countries.
Jacqueline is President of the BVI Bar Association, an executive member of the BVI Trademarks Association, a member of the Anguilla Bar Association and was a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners for over 10 years.
She is also called to the Bar in Jamaica and Anguilla and speaks Spanish.
