Expertise and Professional Background
Hazelann Hannaway is a member of the Litigation and Insolvency Department at Harneys, and specialises in civil, corporate and international litigation. Her clients include local and foreign corporations and individuals from the major jurisdictions including Europe, the Far East and the United States. Practice areas include contractual breach, property disputes, debt recovery, employment, admiralty, personal injury, trusts, contentious probate and estate matters, contentious insolvency, fraud, shareholder and corporate disputes, banking disputes, injunctive and discovery orders. She currently works with members of the territory's financial sector on regulatory and commercial matters with a portfolio including local banks and trust corporations.
Hazelann has represented the BVI Government and BVI Bar Association on a number of committees including the Prison Visiting Committee by legislative appointment and the Income Tax Board of Referees, the tribunal responsible for the revision of local tax matters and adjudication over taxing disputes. She also serves the wider community as an officer of various local and international civic organisations, including service as the 2006-2007 President of the Tortola Club of Toastmasters International.
