Expertise and Professional Background
Fiona is counsel in our London office working as the professional support lawyer for the firm’s Cayman funds and corporate practices. She has extensive investment funds experience including the establishment of investment funds and restructuring and winding down investment funds’ affairs and on financial services regulatory matters including the potential impact of Brexit on offshore financial services. Fiona also has extensive onshore and offshore corporate transactional experience including public and private M&A, equity capital markets matters, joint ventures and restructuring group structures.
Prior to joining Harneys in 2010 (and re-joining in 2014), Fiona trained at Eversheds LLP in London, qualifying into the Corporate Department and then spent 5 years at Herbert Smith LLP in London and Singapore, working on a range of corporate and corporate finance transactions. Fiona joined Maples and Calder’s London office in 2005 where she practised Cayman Islands law, continuing to advise on a range of corporate matters and also developing her investment funds practice. Fiona spent a year from 2013 working on a market-leading online regulatory product at Simmons & Simmons.
Fiona is also a contributing editor of The Offshore Funds Blog, a Harneys blog dedicated to explaining how offshore funds work and why investment managers use them.
